Wilmut Borell
Wilmut Borell (born November 19, 1922 in Breslau ; † January 19, 1997 in Höhenkirchen near Munich ) was a German actor and voice actor .
biography
His parents were Gustav and Bertha Borell. After finishing school, he passed the school leaving examination in the early 1940s. He was then drafted into the Wehrmacht. After the war he found a new home in Bavaria. He began his acting career in Munich. There he belonged to the ensemble of the Munich Kammerspiele and played there a. a. the grande in Opening of the Indian Era by Peter Hacks , the unemployed in The Good Man by Sezuan by Bertolt Brecht , the Tajo in Elisabeth von England by Ferdinand Bruckner , the 5th actor in Six People Looking for an Author by Luigi Pirandello and the 1st. Guardsmen in The Innocents by William Saroyan .
He also began his film and television career in the 1950s. He had his first appearance as Hochaus in the fairy tale film Die goldene Gans (1953) by the Brothers Grimm . Other films followed, such as Night when the Devil Came or The Doctor of Stalingrad , a film based on a novel by Heinz G. Konsalik . He became known to a larger audience in 1960 when he played one of the main characters, Captain Rahn, in the first part (Das Tagebuch des Jürgen Wilms) of the 5-part television film Am Green Beach on the Spree by Hans Scholz . The big breakthrough came a year later, when he played the police sergeant Herbert Damerl Dambrowski in 31 of a total of 35 episodes in the first Munich television crime series, Funkstreife Isar 12 . According to the script, Dambrowski was a real Berliner, while his colleague police sergeant Alois Huber ( Karl Tischlinger ) was a Bavarian veteran. Despite these differences, both got along well. Their company car was the legendary BMW 501, the so-called Baroque Angel . The two policemen were not busy with the big cases, but with the everyday problems of their profession. Perhaps it was the everyday life that made the two main actors so popular with the audience. One year after the end of the series (1964), Borell and Tischlinger appeared again in an episode of the series Der Nachtkurier reports ... as Dambrowski and Huber.
In the following years, Wilmut Borell mainly appeared in television productions, such as the series Die Fifth Kolonne , Der Kommissar , Tatort or Der Alte . He was also occasionally active as a voice actor. For example, he gave Stanley Lebor his voice in the American television series Holocaust - The History of the Weiss Family .
The actor died on January 19, 1997 in Höhenkirchen near Munich and was buried in the cemetery (Urnenwand) in Kleinhelfendorf , a district of Aying . Little is known about his personal life. According to his daughter, he was married twice.
