Course and catchment area
The Diebachsgraben, which runs entirely in the Frau-Holle-Land Geo-Naturpark (Werratal , Meissner, Kaufunger Wald) , arises in the east of the Kassel basin near the western foothills of the Kaufunger Forest, roughly in the middle between Uschlag (neighboring district of Göttingen ) in the north, Nieste in the east, Kaufungen in the south and Heiligenrode in the west. Its origin, where there is no spring but collects water from ditches further above, is 1 km south-southeast of the summit of the Mühlenberg ( 351.8 m above sea level ), 1.25 km west of the Gerholdsberg (approx. 355 m ; place the former Sensenstein Castle ) and 1 km northeast of Gut Windhausen (approx. 270 m ). It is located next to an intersection of Kreisstraße 4 (Heiligenrode – Nieste) with a dirt road at a height of 306.3 m .
The Diebachsgraben, which strives predominantly to the southwest and does not flow through any localities, initially runs in the municipality of Niestetal east of Gut Windhausen through the Germanic Garden of Windhausen Castle , a former English landscape garden . The monkey house stood by the brook in its grove and south of it, until it collapsed in 1956, the Devil's Bridge in an artificially created sea of rocks (also known as the Steinernes Meer ) , and further downstream is Schlieffen's mausoleum (approx. 255 m ).
The Diebachsgraben then crosses under the district road 5 in an agricultural area north of Gut Tannengrund , which branches off from the K 4 in the north and leads south to Niederkaufungen . In this case, it feeds on the boundary of the municipality Kaufungen below the Kalkbergs ( 224 m ) the located near the stream, small Kalkbergsee (about 190 m ).
A little further southwest of the Diebachsgraben passes under only the Lossetalradweg and then immediately northeast of Kaufungener hamlet paper mill , the federal highway 7 and the section Kassel -Niederkaufungen the fairy tale land in order shortly thereafter in the Losse meadows at about 165 m altitude in the eastern Fulda influx Losse to lead .
The catchment area of the Diebachsgraben, which is fed by a few small tributaries, is 6.35 km².
