Diego León Ayarza , called Diego León , (born January 16, 1984 in Palencia ) is a Spanish football player . His position is in the attacking midfield . Diego León currently plays for the Greek first division club AO Kerkyra .
Club career
The little Spaniard, affectionately called "magic mouse" called, came in the winter of 2005 from Real Madrid B to Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga . It had been on loan for a year and a half. Here he came in the second half of the 2004/05 season on ten missions, but missed a regular place. In the next season he scored his first Bundesliga goal against 1. FC Nürnberg in the 88th minute after being substituted for Bernd Korzynietz in the 86th minute.
The Spaniard left Arminia at the end of the season and returned to Real Madrid . They sold it to Grasshopper Zurich . He has had a difficult time with the Grasshoppers since summer 2007. Hanspeter Latour , successor to Krassimir Balakow , does not rely on Diego León. Thus, León moved to England in December 2007 , to Barnsley FC , where he signed a two-year contract.
UD Las Palmas then signed León for the 2009/10 season . After the season he was without a club for half a year.
From the second half of the 2010/11 season , Diego León played for Wacker Burghausen , where he received a contract until the end of the season. On June 26, 2011 he signed with Hajduk Split in Croatia . He left the club in August 2011 but without a competitive game and moved to the newly promoted Nea Salamis Famagusta in the first Cypriot league .
In the summer of 2012 he moved to the Greek first division club AO Kerkyra , where he signed a two-year contract until the end of June 2014.
National team career
Diego León played for both the U-16s and the U-17 national teams. With the U-16 he took part in the U-16 European Football Championship in England in 2001 and was European champion. At the U-17 World Cup in 2001 , he was used in the preliminary round in all three group games.
