Mountains and waters

In the north of the village is the Dietersdorfer Graben , and to the west of it the Schlapfkogel . The highest elevation is the Gaaler Höhe at 1539 meters, below which there is a shelter called " Fohnsdorfer Hütte " at around 1517 meters . The Dietersdorfer Bach flows in the Dietersdorfer Graben and flows into the Pölsbach .

middle Ages

In the Middle Ages, there was a noble farm on a hill above today's town. Originally it was owned by Dietmar von Lungau , who may also have founded the settlement that was also named after him.

The earliest written document is from 1130/35 and is "Dietrichsdorf".

Around 1150 the farm was given to the Admont Abbey. There were disputes about this donation with the Archbishop of Salzburg , who was probably the original owner of the farm. Thereafter, in 1310, the brothers Friedrich and Hermann Counts von Heunburg were enfeoffed, who lent the court on to smaller families of knights. So in 1310 Albrecht the Landschreiber got the farm and in 1324 Rudolf von Fohnsdorf , who sold it to a citizen of Judenburg. Through him he came to Ortholf den Chren ( Krenn ) in 1349 , who then called himself "von Dietersdorf". From the 14th century onwards, the farm was eventually divided between farmers.
