Dietreichs has been a cadastral community of Allentsteig in Lower Austria since January 1st, 1964 . with a base area of 395.17 hectares. In order to be able to create the Döllersheim military training area , the residents were evacuated from 1938 onwards .
history
The street village of Dietreich was located in a deep hollow, sloping slightly towards the Plöttbach in the west, which was drained by an unnamed trickle.
Originally there was an upper and a lower Dietreich. Ober-Dietreichs became deserted after a campaign by King John of Bohemia in 1336 and was later referred to as Öden-Dietreichs.
In the 12th century Dietreichs was the seat of a noble family. The place is indirectly mentioned in a document for the first time in 1170, when a Ludolt von Diteriches appears as a witness in a donation to the Zwettl monastery . In the years 1270, 1272 and 1298, the name Dietrichs also appears in documents in the usual spelling.
In 1363, Duke Rudolf awarded the Dietreich festivals to Ulrich Hofkirchner and Alram Pölinger. After a few changes of ownership, the castle is likely to have been deserted by the end of the 15th century. In 1602, Sigmund von Lamberg acquired the Dietreich district court , which came under Ottenstein's rule in this way .
Since 1652 the parish Döllersheim kept the church records for births and from 1654 also those for weddings and deaths in Dietreichs. After the Döllersheim parish was abolished, these registers were handed over to the Rastenfeld parish for safekeeping.
Dietreichs' local chapel was built in 1752 . The walls of the chapel are still largely preserved. It is covered with a partially collapsed roof. The entrances and windows are permanently locked due to the risk of collapse.
In order to be able to set up the Döllersheim military training area, the population of Dietreichs was given time by the National Socialist rulers until August 5, 1938 to leave the 24-house area.
