Dimitar Dimitrov ( Bulgarian Димитър Димитров ; born October 12, 1997 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian ice hockey goalkeeper who has played for HK CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Career

Dimitar Dimitrov began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HK Slavia Sofia . At the age of 13 he moved to the Czech Republic, where he played for two years in the U16 team of BK Mladá Boleslav . In summer 2013 he returned to his hometown and is now under contract with HK CSKA Sofia , which initially used him in the U18 team. In 2015/16 he played in the men's CSKA team in the Bulgarian ice hockey league . Since 2016 he has been playing for SK Irbis-Skate , with which he became Bulgarian champion in 2017 .

International

In the junior division, Dimitrov took part with Bulgaria in the U18 World Championships in 2014 and 2015 , when he was voted the best player of his team, and in the U20 World Championships in 2016 , when he had the best catch rate and the lowest goals against goals of the tournament and again the best player of his team, and in 2017 each participated in Division III.

The goalkeeper made his debut in the Bulgarian men's selection at the age of 16 at the 2014 World Cup , when he won the Bulgarians 6-1 victory in Division III against Hong Kong with a score of 4-1 for veterans twelve minutes before the end Konstantin Mikhailov was substituted on. At the 2015 World Cup , he was the Bulgarians' regular goalkeeper in Division II and achieved the third-best catch quota of the tournament behind Chinese Liu Zhiwei and New Zealander Richard Parry . He was also voted the tournament's best goalkeeper. He also played in Division II at the 2016 World Cup . In 2017 and 2018 he played again in Division III. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
