Dirk Denninger

Dirk Denninger (born September 24, 1928 in Bonn ; † March 3, 2002 there ) was a German architect . He shaped the cityscape of his hometown Bonn in particular with numerous office and administration buildings.

Life

Dirk Denninger was the son of the independent Bonn architect Wilhelm Denninger (1899–1973). After the Second World War , he studied architecture at the Technical University in Karlsruhe , where he was Egon Eiermann's student in particular . After working for the Federal Building Department , he joined his father's architectural office in 1956 . Wilhelm and Dirk Denninger were jointly responsible for the planning of several large buildings, including the town hall in Bad Godesberg and the Federal Ministry of Health .

In the early 1970s, Dirk Denninger was associated with Ernst August Jann. In this partnership, he took part in the competitions for a new building for the Federal Council in Bonn (1974) and the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne (1976, 2nd prize) and planned numerous projects - some of them also acting as the client Office building for interest groups and lobby organizations on Bundesstraße 9 , which acts as a connecting axis between Bonn and Bad Godesberg . The architecture office was located in an office building on Walter-Flex-Straße (today: Genscherallee) in what is now the federal district . Denninger had it torn down in the mid-1980s in favor of the new building for the Kunstmuseum Bonn and a new house built on the opposite side of the street according to his own design. The office is continued today by Dirk's son Malte together with his wife Margit Ventuelett-Denninger.
