Wilhelm Denninger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilhelm Denninger (born May 14, 1899 in Lüttringhausen ; † 1973 ) was a German architect . The administrative buildings planned in his office are among the most distinctive buildings in the young federal capital of Bonn . After 1949, several top politicians lived in the Landhaus Kiefernweg 12 in the Bonn district of Venusberg , which he designed in 1938 , most recently from 1967 to 1974 also the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt .

Life

After completing his studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , Wilhelm Denninger initially worked in Peter Klotz's office before settling as a freelance architect in Bonn, his adopted home in 1929. He was resident at the time (as of 1934) at Argelanderstraße 138 ( Poppelsdorf ). After the Second World War he ran the office with his son Dirk Denninger (1928–2002). Wilhelm and Dirk Denninger were jointly responsible for the planning of several large buildings, including the town hall in Bad Godesberg and the Federal Ministry of Health . Ernst van Dorp , who later became an independent architect in Bonn, was one of his students and staff . Denninger was a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).

The office is continued today in the third generation by Dirk's son Malte, together with his wife Margit Ventuelett-Denninger.
