The Lampa district is located in the Lampa Province of the Puno region in southeastern Peru . The district has an area of ​​675.82 km². At the 2017 census, there were 11,206 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 12,031, in 2007 11,329. The administrative seat is the provincial capital Lampa .

Geographical location

The district is located in the east of the Lampa province, about 30 km northwest of the city of Juliaca . It extends over the Andean highlands west of Lake Titicaca . The area is traversed and drained by the River Lampa in a predominantly south-easterly direction. The length in north-south direction is about 40 km, the width is about 20 km. The district borders on the Pucará district to the north, the Nicasio and Calapuja districts and the San Román province to the west, the Cabanilla and Santa Lucía districts to the south and the Paratía and Palca districts to the west .
