The Quinistaquillas District is located in the General Sánchez Cerro Province in the Moquegua Region in southwestern Peru . The district was established on June 10, 1955. It has an area of 195 km². The 2017 census counted 559 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 497, in 2007 it was 1013. The district administration is located in the village of Quinistaquillas, which is about 1800 m high and has 356 inhabitants (as of 2017). Quinistaquillas is located about 13 km southeast of the provincial capital Omate .
Geographical location
The district of Quinistaquillas is located on the southern flank of the Cordillera Volcánica in the central south of the province of General Sánchez Cerro. The Río Tambo flows west along the southern district boundary.
The Quinistaquillas district is bordered to the west by the district Omate , the north and the east by the district Matalaque and on the south by the districts Carumas and Torata (both in the province of Mariscal Nieto ).
