The district of San Francisco de Ravacayco is located in the province of Parinacochas in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district was established on April 23, 1960. It has an area of ​​103 km². The 2017 census counted 548 residents. In 1993 the population was 476, in 2007 it was 673. The district administration is based in the 2852  m high town of San Francisco de Ravacayco with 235 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Francisco de Ravacayco is 46 km east of the provincial capital Coracora .

Geographical location

The district of San Francisco de Ravacayco is located in the Cordillera Volcánica in the east of the province of Parinacochas. The Río Huanca Huanca, a tributary of the Río Marán , crosses the district in a south-southeast direction.

The district of San Francisco de Ravacayco borders in the northwest and in the north on the district Pacapausa , in the east on the district Oyolo , in the south on the districts San Javier de Alpabamba and Marcabamba and in the southwest on the district Lampa (the last four districts all belong to to the province of Páucar del Sara Sara ).
