The San Juan Bautista District is located in the province of Ica the Ica region in southwestern Peru . The district founded on June 25, 1876 has an area of 26.39 km². At the 2017 census, there were 13,846 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 8553, in 2007 it was 12,430. The district administration is located in the 416 m high town of San Juan Bautista with 1393 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Juan Bautista is located on the northern edge of the metropolitan area of the provincial and regional capital Ica , 6 km north of the city center. Other places in the district are El Carmen (1145 inhabitants) and El Olivo (1236 inhabitants).
Geographical location
The district of San Juan Bautista is centrally located in the north of the province of Ica. The rural district is located at the foot of the mountains of the Peruvian Western Cordillera on the west bank of the south-flowing Río Ica . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the district.
The district of San Juan Bautista borders in the northwest and north with the district Salas , in the northeast with the district San José de los Molinos , in the southeast with the district La Tinguiña , in the extreme with the district Ica and in the southwest with the district Subtanjalla .
