The Sumbilca district is located in the province of Huaral in Region Lima in Peru . The district was founded on November 6, 1903. It has an area of 2376 km². The 2017 census counted 793 residents. In 1993 the population was 1577, in 2007 it was 1171. The administrative seat is the 1903 m high village of Sumbilca with 235 inhabitants (as of 2017). Sumbilca is about 44 km east-northeast of the provincial capital Huaral .
Geographical location
The district of Sumbilca is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the central south of the Huaral province. It is bounded in the north by the Río Chancay and its left tributary, the Río Anasmayo.
The district of Sumbilca borders in the southwest with the district Aucallama , in the northwest with the districts Huaral and Ihuarí , in the north with the districts Lampián and Atavillos Bajo , in the extreme east with the district San Buenaventura ( province Canta ) and in the south with the district Huamantanga ( also in the province of Canta).
