The province of Canta is one of nine provinces in the Lima region on the Pacific coast of Peru . The province has an area of ​​1687.29 km². At the 2017 census, there were 11,548 people in the province. In 1993 the population was 10,996, in 2007 13,513. The administrative seat is in Canta .

Geographical location

The province of Canta is located 45 km north-northeast of the state capital Lima . It extends over the upper catchment area of the Río Chillón and extends downstream to river kilometer 35. In the east, the province extends to the watershed that runs along the Peruvian western cordillera . The province of Canta borders the province of Huaral in the north, the province of Yauli (Junín) in the east, the province of Huarochirí in the south and the province of Lima in the west .
