The Huaros district is located in the Canta Province in the Lima region of western Peru . The district was established on December 30, 1944. In 2017, 837 people lived on an area of ​​327 km². In 1993 the population was 1192, in 2007 it was 921. The administrative seat is the 3583  m high village of Huaros with 342 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huaros is 9 km northeast of the provincial capital Canta .

Geographical location

The Huaros district is located in the mountains of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the far east of the Canta province. The eastern district boundary runs along the continental divide . The mountain lake Laguna Chuchón is located on a pass road.

The district of Huaros borders in the southwest on the districts Huanza , Laraos (both in the province Huarochirí ) and Canta , in the west on the district San Buenaventura , in the north on the district Atavillos Alto ( province Huaral ) and in the east on the district Marcapomacocha ( province Yauli ).
