The Huanza District is located in the Huarochirí Province of the Lima Region in the central west of Peru . The district founded on June 8, 1959 has an area of ​​227.01 km². At the 2017 census, 875 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 820, in 2007 it was 1856. The district administration is located in the 3408  m high village of Huanza with 571 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Huanza District is located in the far northeast of the Huarochirí Province. It is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera on the upper reaches of the Río Santa Eulalia . The main town Huanza is 44 km east-southeast of the regional capital Huancavelica . There are several hydropower plants and reservoirs in the district.

The district of Huanza borders in the southeast and southwest on the district Carampoma , in the northwest on the district Laraos , in the north on the district Huaros ( province Canta ) and in the northeast on the district Marcapomacocha ( province Yauli ).
