The Carampoma district is located in the Huarochirí province of the Lima region in the central west of Peru . The district has an area of ​​234.21 km². At the 2017 census, there were 331 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 458, in 2007 it was 1,161. The district administration is located in the 3408  m high village of Carampoma with 317 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Carampoma District is located in the northeast of the Huarochirí Province. It is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . It extends along the headwaters of the Río Santa Eulalia , the Río Acobamba and Río Pallca. There are several hydropower plants and dams in the district.

The Carampoma district borders in the north with the district Huanza , in the northeast with the district Marcapomacocha ( province Yauli ), in the east with the district Chicla , in the southeast with the district San Mateo , in the south with the districts Matucana and San Juan de Iris as well as in West to the Laraos district .
