The district of San Antonio is located in the Huarochirí province of the Lima region in the central west of Peru . The district was established on January 5, 1945. It has an area of 563.59 km². At the 2017 census, 912 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 2762, in 2007 4516. The district administration is located in the 3438 m high village of Chaclla with 200 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The district of San Antonio is located in the extreme northwest of the province of Huarochirí. It is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . It includes the river valley of the Río Huaycoloro and extends in the north to the west bank of the Río Santa Eulalia .
The district of San Antonio borders in the southwest on the district of San Juan de Lurigancho ( province of Lima ), in the northwest on the districts of Carabayllo (also in the province of Lima) and Santa Rosa de Quives ( province of Canta ), in the north on the district of Arahuay (also Province of Canta), to the east to the districts of Huachupampa , San Pedro de Casta and Santa Eulalia and to the south to the district of Lurigancho (Lima Province).
