The Sangallaya district is located in the Huarochirí province of the Lima region in central western Peru . The district was established on September 30, 1954. The district has an area of ​​81.92 km². At the 2017 census, 630 people lived in the district. The district administration is located in the 2738  m high village of Sangallaya , almost 90 km east of the state capital Lima . Other localities in the district are Alloca, Coranche, Huancata, Pucllacanchi and Quiripa.

Geographical location

The Sangallaya District is located in the central south of the Huarochirí Province. It is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera on the western bank of the upper reaches of the Río Mala , which flows south.

The Sangallaya district is bordered to the west by the district Mariatana , in the northwest on the district Huarochirí , on the east by the district of San Lorenzo de Quinti and the south by the district Quinocay ( province Yauyos ).
