The Santiago de Tuna district is located in the Huarochirí province of the Lima region in the central west of Peru . The district was established on December 31, 1943. It has an area of ​​54.25 km². At the 2017 census, 411 residents lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 498, in 2007 it was 666. The district administration is located in the 2902  m high town of Santiago de Tuna with 322 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Santiago de Tuna district is located in the central west of the Huarochirí province. It is located on the western flank of the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The district extends over a ridge that runs between the Río Rímac in the north and the Río Lurín in the south.

The district of Santiago de Tuna borders in the north on the districts of Santa Cruz de Cocachacra and San Bartolomé , in the east on the district of San Andrés de Tupicocha and in the south and west on the district of Antioquía .
