Doğanşar (formerly İpsile ) is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Central Anatolian province of Sivas in Turkey . The place is located 100 kilometers by road (air line: 68 km) northeast of the provincial capital Sivas and according to the city seal was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1953 .
The district Doğanşar is located in the north of the province and is bordered to the southwest by the circle Hafik , southeast and east to the county Zara , in the northeast to the county Koyulhisar and in the west and northwest of the province of Tokat .
Doğanşar had various affiliations, originally to Tokat, then to Sivas (1870), from 1872 to Hafik and from May 9, 1990 its own circle. The Bucak Doğanşar had a population of 7,665 inhabitants in the last census before the change of area (1985), which corresponds to a share of 18.65% of the population of Hafik County.
In addition to the district town, the district consists of 26 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 77 residents. The scale of the population ranges from 312 ( Çatpınar ) to 22 ( Yeşilçukur ), eleven of the villages have 77 (= average) and more inhabitants. The population density is low (9.2 inh. Per km²), the urban population is 40.93 percent.
