Dodine is a chemical compound from the group of guanidine salts .
Extraction and presentation
Dodine can be obtained by reacting dodecylamine hydrochloride with cyanamide and further reacting the intermediate product formed with sodium acetate . It is also possible to obtain it by reacting dodecyl chloride with sodium cyanide and ammonia .
properties
Dodine is a colorless solid that is insoluble in water. It decomposes when heated before it reaches the boiling point.
use
Dodin is a fungicide brought onto the market in 1957 , which also has a low curative effect. For example, it is used in apple cultivation against apple scab ( Venturia inaequalis ).
Admission
After it had not been approved for a few decades, the now patent-free active ingredient was approved again by the Agriphar company in 2007 .
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland there are approved plant protection products (e.g. syllite) that contain dodine.
In Switzerland, spinach has a relatively high maximum residue level of 8 milligrams of dodine per kilogram.
