Building

Building history

The village church was built in the Gothic style. The well-known first mention of the village of Lünow comes from the year 1335. In the 18th century the church was rebuilt and a polygonal choir was added in this context . 1888 was existing church tower of truss by a style romanesque replaced.

Exterior fittings

Grave slab of Arent von Klot

The west tower was built from exposed red clinker bricks. On the floor of the bell cage, two round-arched sound openings are incorporated in all four directions . Above it is a clock tower with dials facing east and north. The openings to the west and south are not occupied. Small gables above the dials or the recesses for them structure the pointed tower helmet , which is covered with slate . At the top there is a tower ball and a weather vane . The latter shows the year 1996. The round arched portal of the church is in the tower on its north side.

The Gothic nave as the oldest component was built from field stones and bricks . It is plastered in parts. The windows have been changed to segment arc windows . These are equipped with window surrounds framed in plaster. On the north as well as on the south side there are clogged former portals. The polygonal choir in the east is plastered. Several grave slabs were worked into this partly under the segment-arched windows . Among other things, on the north side that of a knight Arent von Kloth or Klot and on the south side that of Barbara Elisabeth von Brunnen.

Interior

The interior of the Lünow village church is simply designed. There is a wooden west gallery in it . Like the wooden stalls and the pulpit on the north side of the choir, this is said to date from the 19th century. The interior plaster is white. From murals remnants are still preserved. An octagonal baptismal font made of sandstone is attributed to the Renaissance . This bears the inscription “Let the little children come to me”. The eight surfaces of the baptismal font alternately bear coats of arms and the heads of angels . An electric organ stands next to the simply designed altar in the choir. Above the altar is a glass altarpiece cross and labyrinth by the artist Annelie Grund from 2003. On the west gallery there are six panels of the Lünow Passion , pictures by the painter Jürgen Hoffmann , which depict the story of the Passion .
