Glass art

Annelie Grund glass art

She realized numerous art projects in public space, mainly made of glass, but also steel and stone, colored glass windows for churches as well as free-standing glass objects, glass pictures and pictures behind glass. Since 1999 she has been using acrylic glass with LED light in her architecture-related works as well as free glass objects. Her glass pictures and objects are made of two-dimensional flat glass. They move in the transformation field from interior to exterior and unfold their effect through the light shining through.

Her transparent glass pictures and objects reflect ancient mythological themes from human history. In 1990, during a study trip to the picture caves in the south of France, she discovered astonishing parallels between her own artistic sign language and the rock engravings of the European cultures of the Stone Age, some of which were more than ten thousand years old. She works on site by doing frottage (rubbing) that flow into her glass art in the studio.

Her intention in creating the work of art for the victims of the witch hunt was to combine the strong with the fragile. Since then, the memorial and the subject of witch hunts in Bernau have been actively used on several levels of society. There is a concept of the education – meeting – current affairs association for school project days with a city exploration game. The artist Annelie Grund launched the Bernau initiative for the socio-ethical rehabilitation of the victims of the witch madness, which was decided by the city council of Bernau near Berlin on April 6, 2017.
