The village church in Petersdorf ( Oder-Spree district , Brandenburg ) is a medieval stone church .
history
Its construction from hewn granite blocks suggests its origin in the second half of the 13th century. The towerless hall construction was considerably destroyed during the Thirty Years War and rebuilt in later years. The alterations are baroque . Today the stone masonry of the church and churchyard wall is in great need of repair.
It is not known whether the church had a tower made of stone or wood, but there is a carefully worked pointed arch portal on the west side , which was subsequently walled up. In the churchyard there is a wooden bell that carries the two bells . It was completely repaired after an arson attack a few years ago. The listed bells survived the metal collection in the Hamburg bell cemetery unscathed during World War II ; a third bell is said to have existed once, but nothing is known about its whereabouts. The older bell dates from the 14th to 15th centuries, the younger one from the 16th century.
The church uses the space under the organ gallery as a community room .
Interior decoration
pulpit
Inside the church there is a strikingly decorated pulpit from the beginning of the 17th century with the figures of the evangelists Matthew , Mark , Luke and John as well as Christ . Each evangelist is endowed with his symbol . The carving of the handrail is noteworthy .
Altar and baptism
The image on the altar from the late Renaissance period , around the middle of the 17th century, shows the Last Supper , Jesus with his disciples . Its original location was the patronage chair that existed until the end of the 19th century .
In front of the altar are two soldered tin candlesticks dated 1678. The Bible is from the middle of the 19th century, the wooden baptismal stand has been preserved from the middle of the 18th century. He wears a baptismal bowl of pewter, founded in 1767. In addition to the date, the initials of the former founder M.AK , engraved . A baroque communion chalice made of gold-plated silver has also been preserved.
In front of the altar there is a grave slab set in the ground, a donation from Hans Albrecht von Strantz to his parents on October 2, 1743: Hans George von Strantz , royal major and lord of Petersdorf, b. on November 16, 1659, died on January 29, 1742 and his wife Louise von Wolfersdorf , b. in 1663, died October 16, 1735.
organ
The organ opposite the altar is one of the few surviving organs from the organ builder Friedrich Ernst Gustav Heinze from Sorau , a rarity in Brandenburg. Its state of preservation in need of renovation is original from 1907. The organ, Opus 13, has a pneumatic action, the first of the two manuals of which has been playable since 1994.
Equipment: Pneumatic cone store . The prospect pipes handed in during the First World War in 1917 were replaced by zinc pipes .
