description

The hall church is of Romanesque origin. In 1713 the church was partially demolished and rebuilt. It has a retracted choir tower in the east and an apse attached to it . The choir tower has a slate-covered top floor , behind whose sound arcades the bell cage is located. A church bell from the 13th century hung there until World War I. Today there are two cast steel bells , both cast in a bell foundry in Apolda in 1922 . A bulbous hood sits on it , which continues with an open lantern .

The interior of the nave , covered with a flat ceiling , has a horseshoe-shaped single-storey gallery . Their parapets are stenciled . The nave is separated from the choir by a triumphal arch . The reveals of the windows have coarse, folk ornaments . The church furnishings include a pulpit altar from the 2nd half of the 18th century. It is adorned with rocailles and trimmings , as well as carved statuettes . In the gable above the sound cover is the YHWH , the name of God , connected to the triangle as a symbol of the Trinity , on the pulpit the Agnus Dei as a symbol for Jesus Christ . Another altar dates from the beginning of the 16th century. The baptismal font , decorated with ornaments, dates from the 19th century. A one-hand wooden clock next to the pulpit parapet, instead of the usual hourglass , reminds the pastor of the end of the sermon . The organ with 6 registers , divided between a manual and a pedal , was built in 1821 by Johann Gottlieb Schlegel.
