Double Drums is a German drum duo from Munich. The members are Philipp Jungk (born June 2, 1977 ) and Alexander Glöggler (born May 30, 1976 ).

education

Philipp Jungk and Alexander Glöggler studied classical percussion at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Peter Sadlo . During their studies they played as guest musicians in major symphony orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic , the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart and the Bavarian State Opera . At the same time, as members of the Peter Sadlo & Friends percussion quartet , the two musicians played many European-wide concerts such as the Midem in Cannes or the Schwetzingen Festival. In 2004 they received the master class diploma at the end of their studies.

history

The duo performed for the first time during their percussion studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich for the organization Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now and played over 100 concerts for people who cannot go to concerts such as institutions for the disabled, children's hospitals and prisons. In 2004 the two drummers performed their own compositions for the first time when they graduated from the master class and then played their concerts under the name "Double Drums" exclusively with their own compositions or pieces specially composed for them.

Appearances

Since then, the duo has given concerts around the world such as the Mosel Music Festival , the World Exhibition EXPO 2015 in Milan, the European Weeks in Passau, the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival and the HongKong Arts Festival as part of a children's concert with the Li Biao Percussion Group.

They played as soloists with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and several times with the Munich Chamber Orchestra. At the Bavarian Film Prize 2013 they appeared together with the Thilo Wolf Big Band. Double Drums were guests in various television programs, such as the Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights on ARD , the Sternstunden gala and the evening show on Bavarian television , the ZDF magazine “ Volle Kanne ” , in the program “Der Große Kleinkunstpreis” produced by Dieter Hallervorden on RBB and " Pufpaffs Happy Hour " in 3 satellite . They were also guests on the children's program Tigerenten Club .

Double Drums have been musically involved in children and young people for years and give concerts and workshops in schools.

Teaching

Philipp Jungk and Alexander Glöggler have been lecturers at the University of Music and Theater Munich since 2019 .
