Douglas "Doug" Nolan (born January 5, 1976 in Quincy , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player who played in the American Hockey League and in numerous European leagues during his active career between 1995 and 2011 .
Career
Doug Nolan began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Massachusetts Lowell , for which he was active from 1995 to 1999 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In his final year at university, he was named the striker with the best defensive behavior. From 1999 to 2002 the offensive defender was on the ice for the Dayton Bombers in the ECHL, at the same time he ran for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks , Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League during this period . From 2003 to 2007 he competed in this with the Manchester Monarchs , where he was also active in 22 games for the Reading Royals in the ECHL in the 2003/04 season .
In the 2007/08 season Nolan went to Europe for the first time, where he was under contract with EC Graz 99ers in the Austrian ice hockey league . He started the 2008/09 season at HK Dinamo Minsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , but left it after twelve games and played for Lukko Rauma in the Finnish SM-liiga and the Vienna Capitals in Austria. The US-American began the 2009/10 season with his ex-club Manchester Monarchs from the AHL and ended it with their league rivals Providence Bruins . After another season at HK Jesenice in Slovenia, Nolan ended his active career in summer 2011.
