The Three Wise Pfühle (also Holy three Pfühle ) in the district Wandlitz are Ice Age - relics that form three loose across marshy meadows, small lakes connected. These are water-filled depressions in the meltwater channel between the Liepnitzsee and the Wandlitzer See , which have neither an inflow nor an outflow.
description
The three elongated teardrop-shaped lakes lie like a string of pearls almost in a west-east direction on the eastern edge of the Wandlitz district, about three kilometers from the historic center. Two of the three puddles have now been built on their north banks, and settlement began in 1908 with the country house colony . The first 10 villas of this time were built as model houses as part of an architectural competition for summer and holiday homes advertised by the railway construction company. The remaining ones are still standing at lake 1. (There is no official assignment of the numbers or the correct spelling - three holy puddles, three holy puddles. In this article they are from west to east with the numbers 1, 2 and 3 occupied.) The south bank of the first lake is not built on.
Lake 2 is built on the north bank. A popular but “wild” bathing area has established itself on its northeastern bank.
In the vicinity of the southeast bank of Pfuhl No. 3, there is an older farm that can be reached from Lanker Weg .
The bank zones and shallow water areas of all three ponds are swampy and partly overgrown with reeds or rushes . All embankments go up quite steeply.
Naming and legends about the creation
The name of the small lakes is supposed to recall a monastery that used to exist in this field, which, according to not documented information, is said to have stood on a hill at one of the puddles.
There are various legends about the creation of the lake, in which a devil always appears.
- Satan threw a stone at the church in Wandlitz, but it fell into the lake next door - the big splashes then formed the three holy puddles.
- The Beelzebub is said to have thrown a boulder directly into the Wandlitzer See in the distant past. The water sloshing over the bank formed the Three Sacred Puddles.
- The devil felt disturbed by the ringing of the church bells in Prenden , so that he threw a handful of stones at the church. However, the five stones missed their target - two fell on the Strehlesee, three flew too far and dug up large holes between the Wandlitzer See and the Liepnitzsee, in which today's puddles formed.
Fauna and flora of the puddles
According to the anglers, carp, which find good living conditions in the stagnant waters, should predominantly live in the Pfühlen. Pfuhl No. 1 is managed by the Niederbarnim e. V. supervised.
Various species of small insects, frogs and the rare fire-bellied toad have already been spotted in the wet meadows . The tree zone around the puddles, which extends seamlessly into the Liepnitz forest, also offers a good habitat for almost all native songbirds.
The southern shores of the three lakes are densely overgrown with scrub and deciduous trees - especially beeches , alders , birches - but instead of a path along the banks there is only one rather adventurous footpath. The resulting green corridor was cultivated by the people in the 20th century who found free fields here when the country house colony was built.
use
All three puddles are official DAV fishing waters with the designations F03-109, F03-110 and F03-111. In the western area of the first lake there is the anglers' home built 1979–1983 (client: Anglerverband Wandlitz, which is now organized in the Anglerverband Panketal). Some members have their boats here. There are several small refuges right on the shore.
Between 1931 and 1934, the water sports club eV had a club house and swimming lanes built on the first lake. The clubhouse has been preserved as a fishing home (see photo), but the swimming lanes no longer exist.
In the neighborhood
The former country houses, largely preserved in their original condition (address: An den Pfühlen - at the time of construction, Street 40 - numbers 5, 7, 18 and 29) are listed as architectural monuments in the state monument protection. Houses number 4 (called “garden and house”) and number 3 (“by the lake”) were demolished in later years and replaced by new buildings. The other villas have also been given special names: "Villa Dreieck im Kreis", "Villa Kaiserstuhl", "Villa Clärchen", "Villa Waldwiese". The new residential area in the countryside entailed the construction of paved roads, some of the first traffic routes made of concrete, as well as electrical and water-technical development. So in 1907 the water tower with apartment was built (builders: Eisenbahnbaugesellschaft Becker & Co. GmbH; Association of Country House Owners), in 1928 another machine house and from 1936–1942 the Wandlitzer See waterworks had the well and pumping system in the waterworks expanded.
For those interested in viewing and buying the country houses and the later residents, private man Karl Schieweg opened the ` ` Verunkene Glocke '' bar with a house and ancillary building in 1912 . In the following political and property changes, the small building was preserved and at the end of the GDR it was a training and holiday home with accommodation barracks. After 1990 it was re-privatized and since then has offered a small selection of food and drinks again; Events that go far beyond the region were also organized. The pub building was closed in 2011 due to dilapidation.
Shortly before the end of the Second World War, in 1944–1945, the Reich Commissioner for the German Film Industry had a Hellschreiber, transmission and reception barracks (news barracks) built on the Pfühlen so that a film could be produced here. It is not known whether films were still made here.
When the municipal administration was transferred to the SMAD in May 1945 , according to order no. 24, the residential property was expropriated from the large farmer Otto Ludwig Schmidt at Pfühlen 23, and it was incorporated into the state land fund . From 1949 the house built in 1931 served as a party school for the SED and was given the honorary name Clara Zetkin . Up until 1952 there were further extensions and conversions. After the fall of the Wall, the property went into private ownership and is now operated as a lake sauna .
Almost at the end of the street at An den Pfühlen, the early residents of the colony had a preschool children's home built in a spacious garden. After the war, the pre-school home was owned by the council of the Bernau district , which carried out an extension in 1964. The entire facility has been preserved to this day, but was only used until the mid-1990s.
The expansion of the area around the three puddles, which began around 1908, eventually led to a separate settlement area, and various holiday properties from companies were added during the GDR era. After the fall of the Wall , a building boom set in again in the area of the Three Holy Puddles, especially from what used to be purely recreational plots with arbor, in the meantime residential complexes with single or multi-family houses. At the turn of the millennium, some villas with exclusive furnishings were built directly on the steep north bank of the first lake. Under the motto of the Brandenburg Chamber of Architects Architects create spaces , the single-family house Kaiserstuhl An den Pfühlen 1 was built in the period 2016/2017, which could be viewed during the 2017 Architecture Day .
A signposted hiking trail leads along the north-eastern slopes of the three ponds.
