The Mittelprendensee is a 31 hectares large lake , which was created in a glacial meltwater channel. Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Wandlitz , district Prenden.
Location, fauna and flora
The Mittelprendensee (MPS) in the Wandlitz-Biesenthal-Prendener lake area is located in the Mergelluch nature reserve in the middle of the Barnim nature park . The Pregnitz river forms the inflow and outflow of the lake . There is a connection with the Eiserbuder See (northeast) and the Bauersee (southwest). Larger places within a radius of about four kilometers each are Prenden , Sophienstädt (northeast) and Biesenthal and the districts of Ruhlsdorf , Lanke and Schönfeld .
The abundance of fish in the lake - eels , perch , pike , carp , roach , pikeperch - makes it very popular with anglers. In earlier decades the lake is said to have been used for breeding carp, some of which have survived. The wild ducks , great crested grebes and coots , which are widespread in Brandenburg , live in the reed beds of the lake and find sufficient food here. Countless insects animate the edge of the lake and the forest.
The lake is completely surrounded by forest without any development near the bank. Pine trees are predominant , alongside alder , oak, beech and bushes. In the shallow water areas, reeds , sometimes rushes and cattails as well as floating leaf plants such as pond and water lilies have settled.

Due to the location and the good transport connections ( Biesenthal train station ) or via the federal motorway 10 (Lanke exit), a natural, family-friendly campsite with up to 100 parking spaces is operated on the bank . A visitor to the lake refers to possible sexual harassment in the vicinity because of the officially approved nudism on a beach section and on the campsite.
The lake's water is clean, which is why it is designated as a bathing lake and is seasonally supervised by the DLRG . Sunbathing lawns, a water slide, a barbecue area and beach volleyball fields are among the leisure activities.
The MPS is also part of extensive hiking routes. The lake is registered as fishing waters under the number 1423 .
