The Stolzenhagener See in the southern area of the Stolzenhagen district of the large municipality of Wandlitz belongs to the Biesenthal-Wandlitz-Prendener lake area , which includes around 30 large and small lakes. The relic of the Vistula Ice Age is only 170 meters wide, but almost 13 times as long. The lake has been privately owned by the Otto family since at least 1831.

description

Use of the shore region

The shoreline regions of the Stolzenhagener See are only sparsely built up, but have solid roads. There is a five-kilometer circular hiking trail, which, however, only leads along the almost one kilometer-long lake promenade in the southwest along the shore itself. On the entire eastern side it runs through a quiet residential street and in the west on the side of a less frequented country road. Older descriptions of a continuous direct bank loop are outdated. The Stolzenhagener Heide joins the eastern area of the lake . The actual village of Stolzenhagen, which was independent until 2003 and after which the lake is named, extends in the north-west of the lake and behind the heath.

A bungalow settlement and a camping site were built on the west and south banks in the 1970s and 1980s, but were closed in 1999 after being reduced to around 50 camper families around 1990. Some of the bungalows were privately owned, but many were built and maintained as training and holiday homes by GDR companies . With the later liquidation or re-privatization of the businesses, the holiday homes were given up or sold. Some buildings are still empty after twenty years and are in disrepair (as of 2011).

Use of the water

The flat sandy beach of the southernmost bay of the lake is used as a public bathing area. The private operators of the lido have already received the coveted EU blue flag several times for guaranteed clean bathing water. Pleasure boats can also be hired there. At this point, a marshy strip of land that is only 240 meters narrow separates the Stolzenhagener lake from the Wandlitzer lake .

Diving athletes give visibility in the lake to be 0.5–1.5 m.

fauna and Flora

In the lake there are carp , pike , perch , eel , roach , tench and pikeperch , which are used annually by the lake owners in sheltered bays on the west bank. Numerous recreational anglers acquire a fishing license and therefore come to the lake. The fish are then prepared in a small village restaurant and are on the menu. Only one resident of the district has fishing rights.

The reeds growing on the bank were also harvested in the past by this fisherman and processed for further use such as the roofing of farmhouses . Large parts of the surrounding area are covered with forest.
