The Dunajovický potok (German Retzbach , also Tannowitzer Bach ) is a right tributary of the Thaya / Dyje in the Czech Republic .
course
The Dunajovický potok rises northwest of Mikulov ( Nikolsburg ) on the bustard balls (219 m nm) in the Mikulovská vrchovina . The brook, which takes its entire course northwards, flows through a wide valley that separates the Pavlovské vrchy ( Pollau Mountains ) from the Dunajovické vrchy ( Tannowice Mountains ). To the east rise in the Pollau Mountains of Růžový vrch ( Rosenberg , 298 m nm), Kunold (298 m nm) and Anenský vrch ( Annaberg , 268 m nm); the Ořechová hora ( Bratelsbrunner Berg , 263 m nm), the Liščí kopec ( Fuchsenberg , 272 m nm), the Velká Slunečná ( High Sun Mountain , 283 m nm), the Zimní vrch (260 m nm) and the Kraví hora ( Old Cow Mountain , 234 m nm) in the west are part of the Tannowitz Mountains.
The village of Dolní Dunajovice ( Lower Tannowitz ) stretches along the middle reaches ; it is the only village through which the stream flows.
In its last section, the stream flows into the Dolnomoravský úval ( southern March basin ) and flows into the upper Nové Mlýny reservoir after about nine and a half kilometers . Before the damming of the Thaya, the Dunajovický potok flowed into the river opposite Mušov ( Muschau ).
Due to the discharge of sewage, also from Perná and Bavory , as well as inputs from agriculture, the Dunajovický potok has poor water quality. The stream and its three tributaries are largely regulated. The stream runs mainly through an agricultural area.
Approx. One kilometer to the west runs at the foot of the Tannowitz Mountains - largely parallel to the Dunajovický potok - the Brod-Bulhary-Valtice irrigation canal, through which water is pumped in the opposite direction from the Nové Mlýny reservoir into the Šibeník and Niklas trenches if necessary during longer dry periods .
