Eberhard IV.

Eberhard IV , called "the Younger" (* August 23, 1388 ; † July 2, 1419 in Waiblingen ), was Count of Württemberg .

Life

Eberhard IV was the only surviving child from the marriage of Count Eberhard III. and Antonia Visconti . On November 13, 1397 he was engaged to Henriette von Mömpelgard . Henriette was the eldest daughter and chief heir to Heinrich von Mömpelgard , who died in 1396, a year before his father, Count Stephan von Mömpelgard . The county Mömpelgard became part of Wuerttemberg when the marriage was concluded at the latest in 1407 .

Eberhard IV took an active part in the government of the country from 1407. From 1409 he ruled the county of Mömpelgard together with Henriette. After the death of Eberhard III. on May 16, 1417 he took over the government in all of Württemberg. When he died on July 2, 1419, his two sons, the future Counts Ludwig I and Ulrich V , were only seven and six years old, respectively. Therefore a guardianship government from Henriette and up to 32 Württemberg councilors were set up.
