Edin Cocalić (born December 5, 1987 in Višegrad ) is a Bosnian football player who is under contract with the Turkish club Akhisarspor .

life and career

In 1992 Cocalić fled with his family from his hometown Višegrad before the Bosnian War to the Bosnian capital Sarajevo, where his football career essentially began. Here he played for eleven years for FK Željezničar , the most famous Bosnian football club and one of the top players in club football in the former Yugoslavia . Well-known talents who were encouraged by FK Željezničar at an early age include: a. Edin Džeko , Boubacar Dialiba , Semir Štilić . Edin Cocalić successfully passed through various junior classes and was team captain and one of the most important performers in the professional squad for the last three seasons. Most recently he was considered one of the best defensive players and the greatest talent in the Bosnian Premijer Liga . This is reinforced by the fact that Cocalić was the youngest ever captain of FK Željezničar.

At the end of 2009 Edin Cocalić was under discussion at MSV Duisburg , where he was a test player for a certain time. In January 2010 he signed a three and a half year contract with Panionios FC Athens.

For the second half of the 2018/19 season he moved to the Turkish first division club Akhisarspor .

National team

Edin Cocalić also played in various U-national teams ( U-17 , U-19 and U-21 ) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
