Edmund Malecki (born November 1, 1914 in Hanover ; † April 21, 2001 ) was a German football player.

Career

societies

The striker came from the Borussia Hannover club . He then came to Hannover 96 via SV Arminia Hannover , for which he played from 1934 to 1947. Malecki was known to be a good flanker. He won the championship with the "Reds" in 1935 and 1938 in the Lower Saxony Gauliga , and in the Lower Saxony South Gauliga in 1940 and 1941. In 1938 he was German champion with Hannover 96 . In the finals, Hanover prevailed against 1. FC Nürnberg , Alemannia Aachen and 1. Hanau Football Club 1893 . The semi-final game on May 29, 1938 in Dresden was decided by Edmund Malecki with his goal in 92nd minute of the game to make it 3-2 after extra time against the North German rivals Hamburger SV . In the final, the Lower Saxony beat the high favorites FC Schalke 04 on July 3 with 4: 3 (1: 1; 3: 3) in the replay after extra time in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in front of 100,000 spectators. In the first final game on June 26th, the two rivals parted ways with a 3-3 draw after extra time.

Selection / national team

As a player in the Lower Saxony regional selection team , he was used in the competition for the Reichsbund Cup.

The right winger played five international matches between 1935 and 1939 , in which he scored two goals. He made his debut for the senior national team on August 25, 1935 together with his teammate Fritz Deike when the DFB-Elf under Reich coach Otto Nerz won the international match against the Romanian national team with 4-2 goals in Erfurt . Malecki later ended his career at MTV Braunschweig as a player- coach, where he replaced Ludwig "Pipin" Lachner .
