Eduard von Beyer

Hans Maximilian Eduard von Beyer (born July 25, 1787 in Berlin ; † November 30, 1873 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian major general and inspector of the Silesian fortress inspection.

Life

origin

He comes from the von Beyer family, who was raised to the Prussian nobility on October 21, 1786 . His parents were Friedrich Eberhard Georg von Beyer (* December 22, 1739; † February 2, 1818) and his wife Auguste Ernestine Sophie, born von Böhmer (* September 12, 1754; † March 6, 1826). His father was lord of Friedeburg Castle and royal Prussian Privy Finance Councilor. Lieutenant General August von Beyer was his brother.

Military career

Beyer received his school education at the Köllnisches Gymnasium in Berlin. On April 1, 1800, he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 23 as a private corporal . There he was promoted to ensign on November 25, 1805 . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Jena , took part in the retreat to Erfurt, where he was made inactive after the surrender of the fortress. On January 25, 1808, he was re-employed as a second lieutenant in the army with half pay. On March 17, 1810, he was transferred to the Cadet Corps. On March 9, 1813, he was aggregated to the engineer corps . He took part in the sieges of Maubeuge, Givet, Landrecies, Philippeville, Rocoy and Avesnes. During that time he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 17, 1814 . In 1815 he earned the Iron Cross II class in the battle of Ligny , after which he also took part in the battles at Belle Alliance .

After the war, on April 20, 1816, as a captain, 2nd class, he was appointed commander of the 1st company of the 5th engineer division in Glogau . On August 25, 1818, he was promoted to captain 1st class. On February 3, 1819, he was entrusted with the management of the business as an engineer officer in Glogau, and on May 27, 1820, he received his confirmation. On July 14, 1828, he was promoted to major . On April 18, 1837, he was commissioned to run the business as an inspector of the Silesian Fortress Inspectorate and was appointed inspector on January 14, 1838. On March 30, 1839 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in this position and on September 10, 1840 to colonel . He was also awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III on October 30, 1841 . Class with a bow, before he was put up for disposal on March 19, 1833 with the character of major general and the statutory pension . From May 11, 1844, he received a personal allowance of 200 thalers in addition to his previous pension. He died on November 30, 1873 in Görlitz.

Beyer married Henriette Theodosie Pauline Praedel (born February 19, 1792 - January 7, 1830) in Breslau on November 28, 1817, a daughter of the Praedel Privy Council of War in Breslau. The following children were born from the marriage:

After the death of his first wife, Beyer married Julie Luise Forster (born June 9, 1796 - November 11, 1871) in Glogau, widowed Uber from Neuchatel . The couple also had a son:
