Effi B. Rolfs

Effi B. Rolfs (also Effi B. Rolfs-Wrobel ; born January 3, 1968 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German cabaret artist , author , painter , graphic artist and theater director .

Live and act

Effi B. Rolfs was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1968 as the daughter of Rudolf Rolfs and Renate Rolfs (née Riebandt). 1987 Abitur at the Georg-Kerschensteiner-Schule ( commercial high school ) in Obertshausen .

She had her first stage role at the age of 11 in the comedy " You don't laugh as a corpse " in the Theater am Wald in Rödermark . From 1983 she was in constant private training in voice training and singing a . a. with her father Rudolf Rolfs and in singing with Oliver Augst . From 1985 to 1989 she was seen in various roles in the cabaret Die Schmiere at the side of Reno Nonsens and Rudolf Rolfs. In addition, she worked from 1987 to 1990 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in the subjects of German studies , theater studies and children's literature .

Since 1990 she has been director of the satirical theater and cabaret Die Schmiere together with Matthias Stich and Klaus Teßnow († 2011). Since then she has played over four thousand performances and produced a good thirty-five plays, and provided and written a large part of the texts and ideas. She also works as a freelance author , partly with her own works or as a commissioned work. Effi B. Rolfs works with directors such as Jörg Zick, Anne Georgio, Jo van Nelsen , Bernd Krieg and Marc Ermisch . Since the birth of her daughter in 2002, there have been several projects with and for children and young people.

Outside of her own theater, she can also be seen as a presenter or talk guest on HR and Rhein-Main-TV . At the “Children's Festival in the Commerzbank Arena ” with Trifels Verlag or at the “Africa Festival” in Frankfurt-Höchst , she was repeatedly a presenter.

She is also the organizer of the “Real Estate Scandal” and the “Attention: Art!” Exhibition in the Schmiere rooms . In the 15 exhibitions of various genres from installation to painting to photography so far, works by artists such as u. a. Ferry Ahrlé , Fides Becker, Costa Bernstein and Viktor Naimark are shown.

Since 2017 she has also been active as a painter and graphic artist . Some of her works were shown in a solo exhibition in the rooms of the Die Schmiere theater in Frankfurt am Main in 2018 .

In 2019 Effi B. Rolfs was awarded the Goethe plaque by the city of Frankfurt am Main in recognition of her special services . The award was presented on March 19, 2019 by Mayor Peter Feldmann in the Kaisersaal des Römers .
