Elert Bode

Elert Bode (born April 6, 1934 in Breslau ) is a German actor , theater director and theater director .

Live and act

Bode received his acting training from Günther Seeker, the director of the Junge Bühne in Goslar . In 1956 he made his debut at the Theater im Kleinen Raum in Münster . There he also worked as a dramaturge and assistant director . In 1957 he founded the Westfälische Kammerspiele in Paderborn , of which he was director until 1970.

From 1970 to 1976 he was director of the Württemberg State Theater in Esslingen . In 1976 he became director of the Stuttgart Comedy in the Marquardt , and in 1984 he also became the director of the Alte Schauspielhaus there . He also appeared at his houses as an actor and often directed. His roles included the title character in Torquato Tasso , Mephisto in Urfaust , Jupiter in Amphitryon , Elwood P. Dowd in Mein Freund Harvey , General in Anouilh's Der Walzer der Toreros , Peer Bille in the Curt Goetz play Hokuspokus and the title role in Kipphardts In the J. Robert Oppenheimer case . In August 2002 he handed over the management of the theater to Philip von Maldeghem, but remained active as an actor and director.

In addition, Bode often took on engagements for television, mainly in crime series. In Heinrich Breloer's documentary play Speer und Er (2005), Bode played Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath .

Elert Bode is a great, great-great-grandson of the astronomer Johann Elert Bode .
