Elfi Hartenstein
Elfi Hartenstein (born August 18, 1946 in Starnberg ) is a German writer . She writes novels , short stories , radio plays , non-fiction books and has translated from English .
life and work
Hartenstein was after a study of German literature and history in Bremen as a teacher worked. In addition, she worked for a publishing house for women's literature and was co-editor of the literary magazine Schreib .
Since 1989 she has lived as a freelance writer and translator in Regensburg . She has lectured in German as a lecturer in Romania , Moldova , Ukraine , Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan .
As a literarily ambitious author, Hartenstein has so far not been able to establish herself “in the market”. She is a member of the Association of German Writers .

- 1981: Scholarship for literature from the Hanseatic City of Bremen
- 1984: Littera Medal
- 1991: Translator grant from the German Literature Fund
- 2004: scholarship from Künstlerhof Schreyahn
- Residency grant from the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Newbliss, Ireland .
