Elias is a song of the German synth pop - duo Wolfsheim . The piece is the only single from the compilation 55578 released the following year .

Creation and artwork

The song was written by the two Wolfsheim members Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. In collaboration with Jose Alvarez-Brill , the two also produced the single. The piece was mastered under the direction of Carlos Perón . The single was released under the music label Strange Ways Records and distributed by Indigo . The recordings took place in The Factory recording studio in Aachen . On the black and white cover of the maxi single you can see a portrait of two faces , in addition to the artist name and song title . One face has a sad expression, the other face looks in the direction of the sad face and arouses a laughing expression. The artwork and the drawing are from Heppner himself. On the back there is the quote: “Evelyn cuts our hair. Dedicated to no-one ".

Publication and promotion

Elias was first published on April 22, 1994 in Germany. In addition to the readioversion, the maxi single includes an extended version entitled Elias (Drumless Mix) . Other B-sides are Lovesong (Club Mix) , Lovesong (Short-Cut) and Tender Days (Indian Mix) . The two titles Lovesong and Tender Days can be found on the previous studio album Popkiller .

When Elias is a remake of the original, which in 1989 on the second Wolfsheim- Demo Any But Pretty was released. The original song was recorded, composed and produced entirely by Heppner and Reinhardt. The piece was never included on a regular studio album.
