Spectators trilogy ( English for, viewers Trilogy ') is the only box set of the German synth pop - duo Wolfsheim .

Creation and artwork

With the exception of a cover version, all the songs in the box were written together by the two Wolfsheim members Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. They also produced the album in collaboration with Jose Alvarez-Brill. The album was mastered at Master & Servant in Hamburg , under the direction of Tom Meyer. The box set was released under the music label Strange Ways Records and distributed by Indigo . The album was recorded at The Factory recording studio in Belgium .

On the cover of the box set - in addition to the artist name and album title - three pictures are shown. The first picture shows an impact crater on the moon, the second the earth and the third a shining star . A similar cover principle with a similar artwork theme can be found on the singles Künstliche Welten and Once in a Lifetime and the album Spectators . The artwork comes from the Graphic Works Ottensen.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of the Spectators trilogy took place on October 29, 2001 in Germany. The compilation consists of 19 songs and includes the two maxi singles Künstliche Welten and Once in a Lifetime as well as the studio album Spectators . There was no single release from the box.

The Spectators Trilogy is a compilation of the last studio album Spectators . It contains the studio album Spectators and the maxi singles Once in a Lifetime and Artificial Worlds . The maxi-single It's Hurting for the First Time is not included, because the single is only due to the use of the soundtrack for Detlev Buck's movie Love Your Neighbor! has been published. The single Sleep Somehow (Extended Mix) is also not included, because it was a limited special release on vinyl.

Once in a Lifetime

Once in a Lifetime's maxi single was first published on October 16, 1998 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . In addition to the radio version, the maxi single includes an extended version of Once in a Lifetime , as well as the songs Heroin, She Said and Love Is Strange , as B-side . When Love Is Strange is a cover version of the published 1956 original by Mickey & Sylvia.

Spectators

The first release of the album Spectators took place on January 29, 1999 in Germany. The album consisted of eleven newly recorded tracks. Nine of the eleven lyrics are in English, one of the lyrics is in German. Musically, the songs move in the realm of dark waves and synth pop . When E is a pure instrumental piece . In the song Blind Wolfsheim were supported as guitarist by their producer Jose Alvarez-Brill.

The first publication of the maxi single by Künstliche Welten took place on March 26, 1999 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition to the radio version, the maxi single includes a remix version and a version of Once in a Lifetime recorded by the Prague Philharmonic , as well as the song F , as the B-side . The remix version comes from the collaboration between Jose Alvarez-Brill and Hubertus Pohlmann. The Prague Philharmonic was recorded under the direction of the conductor Mario Klemens. The song F cannot be found on any Wolfsheim album to this day.

To date, the Bexset has not been able to place in any official charts. Exact sales figures are also not known. It is only known that the box is limited to a certain number of pieces, but which exact number is unknown.
