A New Star System Has Been Explored (original spelling: A New ✩system Has Been Explored; English for, a new star system was explored ') is a song of the German synth pop - duo Wolfsheim , in cooperation with the from Aachen coming singer Heike fog. The piece is the second single from their third studio album Dreaming Apes .

Creation and artwork

The song was recorded and written jointly by the two Wolfsheim members Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. In collaboration with Jose Alvarez-Brill , the two also produced the single, Lothar Gärtner acted as executive producer. The piece was mastered under the direction of Carlos Perón . The single was released under the music label Strange Ways Records and distributed by Indigo . The recordings were made in The Factory recording studio in Aachen . On the pixelated cover of the maxi single - in addition to the artist name and song title - a child's doll with daisy eyes can be seen against the background of a sky. The photography comes from Alexander Demtschuk and the artwork from Graphische Werken Ottensen.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of A New Star System Has Been Explored on 19 April 1996 in Germany. In addition to the radio version, the maxi single includes an album, remix and an instrumental version of A New Starsystem Has Been Explored as the B-side . The latter is represented with the help of symbols on the maxi single. It consists of the following symbols: loudspeaker symbol, microphone, male figure, omnibus, airplane, drinking bottle and a sun.

A New Starsystem Has Been Explored is after five previous English-language single releases in a row, the first German-language song of the duo, which was released as an official single.

With the exception of the English line "Deep-Space-Overdose" ( English for 'space overdose'), the lyrics to A New Starsystem Has Been Explored are written in German; Translated into German, the song title means "A new star system was explored". The music and the text were written jointly by Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. Musically, the song moves in the field of synth pop . The song is built on two stanzas as well as a bridge and a chorus in between and at the end of the song. The stanzas consist of a series of paired rhymes , the two refrains contain a cross rhyme and differ from each other textually, only the text line "Deep-Space-Overdose" is the same. The tempo is 98 beats per minute . In addition to the main vocals by Heppner, the voice of Heike Nebel can be heard in the background.

Music video

The music video for A New Starsystem Has Been Explored was shot largely in black and white . You can see Heppner lying on a surface of water and singing the song while he is partially splashed with water. Reinhardt can be seen in a scene in which he is diving in a swimming pool . In between, the two Wolfsheim members can be seen together again and again, standing in colored scenes against a sky-blue background. Heike Nebel's face can be seen at irregular intervals. The total length of the video is 3:32 minutes. Directed by Oliver-Schultz-Bernd, together with Kjell Peterson he also produced the video.
