content

The lyrics to Find You're Here and Find You're Gone are in English; Translated into German, they mean “Fix you are here” and “Fix you are gone”. The music and the text were written jointly by the two Wolfsheim members Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. Musically, the songs move in the field of synth pop . The tempo is 120 beats per minute . Both songs are musically and lyrically similar, they differ only minimally from each other. There is no real separation of chorus and verse in the pieces, they merge into one another and are very similar, only a few sentence fractions always differ. Achim Fäber can be heard on drums as an additional instrumentalist.

In terms of content, the songs contrast with each other. While Find You're Here is about a man still living with his girlfriend, but no longer really in love with her and not grieving if the relationship fails, Find You're Gone is about that the man was abandoned by his girlfriend overnight and is apparently relieved not to have to draw the line himself.

"When I wake up,
I find you're here.
I should feel joy,
but I am not even near. "

- Original excerpt (Find You're Here)

“When I wake up,
I find that you are here.
I should feel joy,
but I'm not even close. "

- Translation (Find You're Here)

"When I wake up,
I find you're gone.
There should be grief,
but I feel none. "

- Original excerpt (Find You're Gone)

“When I wake up,
I find that you are not here.
I should feel sad,
but I don't feel anything. "

- Translation (Find You're Gone)

Music video

The music video begins with the Find You're Here part . At first, Heppner and Reinhardt can be seen sitting on a sofa in a small rented apartment. Right at the beginning Reinhardt gets up from this and leaves the apartment. As soon as Reinhardt has left the apartment, a team of do-it-yourselfers comes in and begins to renovate it. In the evening, the do-it-yourselfers celebrate an after-work party and finish the apartment the next day. Finally, a woman comes into the apartment and places a chair in the middle of the room so that Heppner can sit on it. After he's seated, the Find You're Gone part begins . Here Heppner gets up again at the beginning. The woman who brought him the chair before is now upset, starts to riot and leaves the apartment. The do-it-yourselfers appear again and begin to renovate the apartment again. This time, however, the apartment will be converted into an Asian restaurant . Here, towards the end, Reinhardt can be seen again as a guest, whom Heppner joins and the two of them order a meal. Throughout the video, Heppner can always be seen singing the song in the foreground. The total length of the video is 7:19 minutes. Directed by Nicholas J. Schofield. The music video was produced by QFilmproduktion. To date, the video has over 3.6 million views on YouTube (as of October 2019).
