Elisabeth Dörler

Elisabeth Dörler (born May 19, 1959 in Bregenz ; † December 18, 2013 ) was an Austrian theologian and member of a secular institute of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Elisabeth Dörler, daughter of the community doctor of Lauterach, studied Catholic theology at the Leopold-Franzens University Innsbruck . After graduation to Magistra for independent religious education on July 10, 1982, she held various municipalities in Vorarlberg as a pastoral assistant working and religion teacher.

In 1986 she joined the work of the Good News Batschuns and worked from 1987 to 1995 as a pedagogical employee in the Batschuns Education Center . During this time, in 1990, she made her first promises and began holding events on Christian-Islamic dialogue. From 1991 to 2001 Dörler was a member of the Liturgical Commission of the Austrian Bishops' Conference .

From 1995 to 2003, Elisabeth Dörler worked as a foreign pastor and religion teacher at the St. Georgs College in Istanbul and on September 19, 1997, she obtained the Turkish language diploma at the University of Ankara . In the 1997/1998 winter semester and 1998 summer semester she was a guest student at the Theological Faculty of Marmara University in Istanbul. Dörler made the eternal promise in 1999.

On 17 February 2003, she was at the Catholic Faculty of the University of Tübingen for a doctor of theology doctorate. Since autumn 2003 she has been the head of the Christian-Muslim Forum.

From December 1, 2003 to October 27, 2013, Dörler was Islam representative of the Diocese of Feldkirch , and from 2007 lecturer on Islam at the University of Innsbruck. In 2012, she fell ill and stopped teaching.

Shortly before her death on December 18, 2013, she was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg on October 26 by the Vorarlberg Governor Markus Wallner . She was buried on December 23, 2013 in the Dornbirn-Rohrbach cemetery.
