Elisabeth Hedwig Goebel (born May 9, 1920 in Jena ; † April 5, 2005 in Hamburg ) was a German actress .

biography

After finishing school, Elisabeth Goebel attended the theater school of the German Theater in Berlin from 1940 to 1942 , where she a. a. received acting lessons from Oskar von Schab. In 1942 she made her stage debut at the Städtische Bühnen Bochum as "Klärchen" in Goethe's Egmont . She stayed in Bochum until 1944, and from 1945 to 1946 she was a member of Helge Pawlinin's ( Goyescas ) theater troupe . She then got a permanent engagement at the Münchner Kammerspiele , and Bert Brecht brought her to his Berliner Ensemble for a few years .

Well-known directors and artistic directors also determined her further stage career : she played under Gustaf Gründgens at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and at the Thalia Theater under Boy Gobert . In addition, she gave u. a. Guest performances in Dortmund, Stuttgart and at the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen. Her repertoire of roles ranged from quirky female characters to tragic heroines, for example as "Frau John" in Gerhart Hauptmann's Die Ratten in Dortmund and as "Kassandra" in Die Troerinnen des Euripides at the Staatstheater Stuttgart .

From 1950 she also took on roles in film and television productions.
