Elisabeth Rust (née Zöscher ; born June 14, 1958 ; † November 22, 2004 ) was an Austrian long-distance and mountain runner .

Career

She won the Graz Marathon three times : in 1994, 1995 and 1998, with the last two victories also making her Austrian marathon champion. In 1993 and 1994 she was Austrian champion in half marathon and mountain running; two further national titles in mountain running were added in 2000 and 2001.

A total of five times she came in the top 10 at mountain running world championships , with a seventh place in 1990 as the best placement.
Her personal best in the marathon of 2:43:36 hours was achieved in 2000 at the Vienna City Marathon . In September 2000 she set a course record in the Schneeberglauf , which was only broken in 2008 by Andrea Mayr . In 2001 she won the Upper Elbe Marathon .

Elisabeth Rust started for the Post SV Graz and the LAC Salzburg. In 1991 and 1993 she was awarded the Dottermann Prize as the best Styrian athlete . She died on November 22, 2004 at the age of 46.
