Ellen Kießling , divorced Buchleitner (born February 17, 1968 in Freital ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant (1992) who was a successful middle-distance runner in the late 1980s and early 1990s .
Career
Her greatest success - starting for the GDR - was second place in the 1500 meter run at the 1990 European Championships in Split .
Ellen Kießling started for the SC Einheit Dresden . In her active days she was 1.65 m tall and weighed 52 kg. She began her athletics career in Pirna with coach Klaus Müller. She started for the GDR team until 1990 and was trained by Katja Hermann.
After the reunification she moved to the Dresdner Sportclub in 1898 and later started for ASV Köln . In 1991 she was fifth over the 1500 m with 4: 04.75 min at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
In October 1994 she married the Austrian athlete Michael Buchleitner (* 1969), her daughter was born in 1999 and her son in 2008. The two are divorced today.
