Geographical location
Left its imprint on farms village lies in the valley of Twiste -Zuflusses Wild km about 6 south of Bad Arolsen . Neighboring towns are Nieder-Waroldern in the south, Volkhardinghausen in the east, Twiste in the north-west and Braunsen in the north-east.
history
The place is called "Eilhardinghusen" for the first time in 1126 as a property of the Corvey monastery . In the years 1431 to 1480 there is a mention as an independent free chair ("the royal Dingestaid") "Under the Hagedorn". Presumably, this is the now-gone Ellenburg , which is said to have existed in 1537 and whose remains were supposedly still visible in the 19th century. Around 1417 another castle, the Austerckhausen castle ("A fortified stone house") between Elleringhausen and Braunsen , is mentioned. The noble family von Dalwigk later appeared as the owner of the castle . This castle, which has also disappeared today, must have been destroyed or demolished before 1505.
At 31 December 1971 Elleringhausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse with five other places Elleringhausen for new large village Twistetal together .

church
Elleringhausen was united with Braunsen to form a parish in 1525 (during the Reformation) , was then temporarily parish in Ober-Waroldern from 1581 to 1585 and then connected to Wetterburg. Since 1706 Elleringhausen finally belongs to the parish of Ober-Waroldern.
It is first mentioned in a document in 1408 (at that time still called "chapel"). The masonry probably dates from the 13th century. The nave is rectangular with a square Romanesque east choir. The sloping pillars are of later date. The half-timbering was put in place in the 17th century, and the tower was rebuilt in 1926 as part of an extensive construction project. In the chancel on the left there is a tabernacle with a Gothic frame and a wrought-iron door (probably 14th century).
