The Elnhauser Wasser (also: Elnhäuser Wasser ) is a 5.9 km (over the Waltersbach : 8.5 km) long , orographically left-sided or northern and at the same time most important tributary of the Ohe , which runs entirely on the Marburg district, and which leads over the Allna to Drained east to the Lahn .

geography

course

The Elnhauser Wasser rises on the southwest flank of the Damshäuser Kuppe Hungert , south of the roundabout between Lahntal - Caldern and the Marburg districts of Dagobertshausen and Michelbach (Marburg) .

A second, more westerly source river has its source at the so-called Elnhauser Grund , on the saddle between Hungert (412 m) and the Koppe (385 m) to the southwest .

While the brook flows through the eponymous district of Elnhausen from the north , it takes on the Waltersbach , which rises east of Damshausen, from the right (= west) , to which the Calder Bach flowed from the left (= north) after passing Dilschhausen .

About halfway to the mouth, the Wehrshausen Bach , which rises north of Wehrshausen on the Marburger Ridge , now flows from the left (= east) , which first circled the Marburg district named after him halfway from the west and then passes the more southerly Dammühle to finally enter East-west direction to flow.

About 2.3 km (as the crow flies) south of Elnhausen the brook finally flows into the Ohe - only a good 500 m northeast of the Ohe mouth into the Allna near Hermershausen .

Catchment area

The Elnhauser Wasser is the main river of the central Elnhausen-Michelbacher Senke ( natural area 320.11), which separates the Gladenbacher Bergland (main unit 320) from the eastern Marburg Ridge and thus from the West Hessian uplands (main unit group 34).

Tributaries

The following are the most important tributaries of the Elnhauser water with length, catchment area and river code number (GKZ):

  • Bach from Dagobertshausen (l; 1.4 km; GKZ 2583266-12)
  • Western source river (r; 2.5 km; GKZ 2583266-14)
  • Waltersbach (r; 5.9 km; 8.663 km²; GKZ 2583266-2)
    • Calderbach (l; 1.8 km; mouth after 5.036 km² of the Waltersbach; GKZ 258326629-2)
  • Defense houses Bach (l; 4.0 km; GKZ 2583266-92)
  • Lummersbach (l; 2.2 km; GKZ 2583266-94)

Across the Waltersbach, coming from Dilschhausen and below the hamlet, including the Calderbach from the left, the Elnhauser Wasser is, at 8.5 km, significantly longer than its nominal headwaters. The catchment area of the Waltersbach is also larger at 8.663 km² than that of the Elnhauser water above (8.393 km²), which makes it the actual source arm of the Allna river system, strictly hydrologically, see Allna section on the main river issue . Below Elnhausen , a further 7.177 km² are drained , mainly through the two streams from the Marburger Ridge .
