Elsbeth Janda
Elsbeth Janda (born December 27, 1923 in Mannheim ; † April 9, 2005 in Heidelberg ), own Elsbeth Nötzoldt-Janda , b. Elisabeth Janda, was a German conférencière , cabaret artist , actress , author and editor . It became popular through the promotion of the Kurpfälzer dialect .
Life
Elsbeth Janda grew up in Mannheim, where she graduated from the Karl-Friedrich-Gymnasium . She then studied musicology , art history and philosophy at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . After that, she initially taught as a music teacher .
Her stage career then began in the 1950s : with her husband, the writer and journalist Fritz Nötzoldt , she was on the road for many years and, also through the Goethe-Institut , worldwide with cultural and historical cabaret programs. Since 1962 she has worked continuously for radio and television , from 1978 to 1986 she was a presenter at the television station Südwest 3 . She was known nationwide z. B. as the Palatinate voice of the dog lady Schlabbinchen from the cartoon clips " Äffle und Pferdle " of the SWR and the ARD .
With her programs “Pfälzer Leut” (1 and 2), “ Liselotte von der Pfalz - her life and her letters” as well as with her book publications, she established her reputation as the grande dame of the Electoral Palatinate. Her genres as a writer were Kurpfalz dialect in poetry and prose , texts for theater and cabaret as well as publications on the cultural history of the Kurpfalz . Her repertoire also included essays on Palatinate dialect , morality , bank songs as well as Yiddish songs and ballads .
After the death of her partner and husband Fritz Nötzoldt († 1987), she performed as a lecture artist and conférencière both solo and with cabaret ensembles and theater groups. Even after her 80th birthday, until the beginning of the year of her death, she still acted regularly in television plays , radio plays and on the stage, e.g. B. in the Frankenthaler Theater Alte Werkstatt (TAW) .
After suffering from breast cancer in 1993, she became involved in the follow-up care of breast cancer , the long-term effects of which she finally succumbed. She was buried at her husband's side on April 18, 2005 in Heidelberg. In 2012 the Elsbeth Janda Library in the Mannheim City Archives was named after her .
